  1. interesting Dave- having fallen into the unbeliever category myself I am fascinated at how much minesterial training pre-supposes faith on the part of those we will minister to!

I spend a lot of time teaching folk about dialogue outside the ” Christian bubble”… it is a challenge we must grasp!

  2. Quite so, Sally. And while I wouldn’t agree with Warren that ‘inerrancy’ is non-negotiable I think he has a significant point in this piece, whether you use his methods or not. I remember offering a reflection in college chapel about the passage in 1 Timothy about the standards required of church leaders, including that they should have a good standing with those outside the faith. Afterwards a lecturer commented to me that he didn’t think he had any non-Christian friends any more. I hope he wasn’t typical; but if he were, it would go some way to explaining the training you are receiving! Likewise, there is a real distinction to be made in ministry between ‘faith’ and ‘religion’. There are plenty of people to whom we minister who have the latter but not the former.

  3. don’t know whether to laugh or cry….I pray that we will grasp a visison of a God who transcends our orderly boxes… who challenges and draws us to know him better….and that we might be drawn to follow…
