  1. That segment with the banana was done tongue in cheek. It sure has stirred up a lot of talk in the blogosphere, though.

Besides that analogy, do you have an issue with presenting the gospel to people who have not heard it, the way that Jesus did it. i.e. Law to the proud and Grace to the humble?

I think it is the perfect antidote to the prosperity gospel that is being sold to the masses today.

I go out a lot (you can see in my blog) and really reach a lot of people with this approach.

  2. I couldn’t bear to watch the whole thing through.

Having been an atheist for most of my adult life, I know that the last thing that a Christian should do is try to argue and prove that Christianity is right.

  3. Dru,

I certainly hope the banana sequence was tongue in cheek! But there were other issues I had with the video regarding the quotations from Darwin and Einstein. Darwin’s quote about the development of the eye was taken out of its original context. In context it means virtually the opposite of what was claimed in the video. (I’m also concerned in case this gets pushed in a direction of associating the Gospel and creationism, as if belief in the latter were a requirement for the former, but perhaps I’m being a bit hard.) And while it is right to say that Einstein was no atheist it does not mean he believed in God in the way Christians do. A quick Google on Einstein+God will turn up all sorts of quotes.

Having said that, I am certainly in favour of evangelistic approaches that stand in contradiction to the heresy of the prosperity message.

Every blessing to you in your outreach.

  5. There was a time when I would have fully supported everything in the video. Now, it just sounds like propoganda. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it just gives me an uneasy feeling, although I appreciate the attempt.
