I appreciate your positive comment. In today's online world that's a rarity. People are not afraid to speak evil of the move of God. They've forgotten Jesus' warning about blaspheming the Holy Ghost.

Thank you, Phil. I hadn't come across SPM before, but what you say doesn't surprise me. You can probably read the caution in the way I assessed them. It still intrigues me why the posts on their blog are protected: you'd think they'd want everyone to see them. How did you manage to see them, or did you rely on the Google Cache like me?

Hi,

I wouldn't put much stock in anything on Spiritual Pathways Ministries. Just cruise on over to my site and search Spiritual Pathways Ministries and you will learn of a tale of deception I haven't seen in a long time....

Thanks, Peter, you'll gather I'm positive about soaking prayer and found the criticisms totally unrelated to my own experience of it. I'm glad your church offers it, too.

I have a lot of respect for Heidi Baker -have heard her speak once - and have also listened to her on DVD and believe she's the real deal. She's genuine in her faith and she takes the commission to preach the good news to the poor very seriously - taking homeless orphans into her home and discipling them giving them a hope and a future.

She is very prophetic (and sometimes can come across as a bit 'out there') - but one teaching I heard from her (which I'll never forget) was about chosing to be a shrivelled up grape (because of ministering out of a point of striving) or being fruitful because of abiding in Him. I know which I'd prefer.

She and her husband have planted thousands of small churches - but more importantly have brought a living faith to those in need - primarily in Mosambique.

I am sure there are criticisms of her. She's not mainsteam and has little time for the politics of institutional church (which won't win her brownie points) but she's committed to Jesus. That's what really counts.

Thanks for tagging me in the same list as the wonderful Heidi Baker. I had the privilege of seeing her in person, though only briefly, in Oxford not quite two weeks ago. I guess she was in transit to Canada.

My church here in Chelmsford offers soaking prayer every Monday evening at 8.00, free of charge and led by your friends Sally and Mones. You would be very welcome to join us if you want to se what it is like, or of course join Stephanie.
